How to confirm a cross-chain swap arrived

To confirm a cross-chain swap arrived, check for a completed transaction on the destination chain and verify the token reached your wallet address. A success message for the send on the first chain only confirms that part of the route. The funds may still be moving, or a swap may still need to happen on the receiving chain.

What does a successful cross-chain swap look like?

A completed swap has a successful destination-chain transaction that sends the expected token to your address. A cross-chain route can involve several steps: a send on the source chain, a bridge transfer between chains, and sometimes a separate swap on the destination chain. Each step has its own status, so a successful source transaction does not prove that the final transfer is done.

For a fuller explanation of how source-chain congestion can affect a route, see Paraswap’s guide to swaps during source-chain congestion. The key point is to track the route beyond the first transaction. Keep the source transaction hash—the unique ID for that on-chain transaction—and use the swap service’s tracking page if it provides one.

How do I check the receiving transaction?

Open the destination-chain transaction in that chain’s block explorer, a site that displays public blockchain activity. Confirm the status says successful, then check that the recipient address matches your wallet and that the token transfer matches the route’s expected output. If the swap ends in a different token, look for that token rather than the one you sent.

Use this short checklist:

  • Choose the destination chain shown in the swap details.
  • Check that the destination transaction succeeded.
  • Match the recipient address to your wallet address.
  • Check the token and amount received against the route details.

Token names and symbols can be reused, so check the token’s contract address too. That address identifies the token on its chain. A wallet may also hide a token from the balance view; adding the correct token to the wallet can make it visible, but does not itself prove the transfer succeeded.

What if the swap is still pending?

If the source transaction succeeded but there is no completed destination transaction, the route may still be processing. Check the swap service’s status using the original source hash, and confirm you are looking at the right destination chain and wallet address. A pending status means the route has not yet reported completion; it is not proof that the funds are lost.

If the destination transaction failed, read its details and check the route service’s guidance before taking another action. Avoid repeating the swap while its status is unclear, since the first route may still complete. The clearest confirmation is a successful destination transaction with the right recipient and token transfer.
