Tether lines up 15 mining groups for shared software
Tether says 15 mining firms, hardware makers and pools will build connections for its Mining Development Kit, a shared layer aimed at simpler mining automation.

Tether says 15 Bitcoin mining operators, hardware makers and mining pools have committed to build software connections for its Mining Development Kit, a move aimed at making it easier to automate mining sites with different equipment. The company announced the commitments on October 24 in its announcement about the Mining Development Kit.
The participants include Bitdeer, BITMAIN, Canaan Inc., MicroBT, Foundry Digital, F2Pool, Luxor Technology and OCEAN. The full list also includes ACME Swisstech, Elektron Energy, EMCD, Heatbit Inc., Proto, SpiderPool and Stratum V2.
What will the 15 participants build?
Each participant has committed to build and maintain an MDK Worker, a software connection that translates its equipment or service into a shared format. Tether says this would let developers build tools that work across more mining systems without creating a separate connection for each one.
The setup is meant to help with a problem at large sites, where thousands of machines from different makers may use separate management software and connect to different mining pools. Operators can choose which functions their systems expose through MDK, Tether said. They do not need to replace their existing technology.
Crypto.news reported on the commitments and noted that Tether did not say all 15 connections were complete or deployed across mining operations.
How could the shared layer support AI tools?
MDK is designed to give monitoring apps and AI agents a common way to interact with mining equipment. Tether says such tools could monitor machines, spot problems and adjust performance. It did not provide figures showing gains in output, electricity use or maintenance costs.
Tether said its QVAC mining agent is already operating on MDK as an early example. The company describes MDK as open source and says developers can begin testing integrations now.
When is the first stable release planned?
Tether is targeting the first stable release, version 1.0, by the end of 2026. The framework was due to reach version 0.11 at the Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano on October 23–24, according to the company.
The 15 commitments are an initial step, not evidence that the software is already in use across all participants’ operations. Tether says the project remains open to other manufacturers, pools, operators and developers.
