Why Mantle Withdrawals Stay Pending
Mantle withdrawals can remain pending after initiation because Ethereum must verify the batch, and your wallet may still need to submit a separate claim.

A Mantle withdrawal can stay pending after its first transaction because the transfer must be settled on Ethereum before the funds can arrive there. The wait is part of the bridge’s settlement process; it does not by itself mean the withdrawal failed.
The process has separate stages: start the withdrawal on Mantle, wait for its state to be proven on Ethereum, then check whether the bridge requires a claim transaction. For a fuller walkthrough of the Mantle Bridge route between Ethereum and Mantle, see our companion guide. The key point is that “pending” can describe more than one stage.
Why does a Mantle withdrawal need a proof?
A proof is evidence that a batch of Mantle transactions followed the network’s rules. Mantle’s current network documentation describes the system as a ZK validity rollup: it sends proofs to Ethereum, where a contract checks that the state changes are valid. Once Ethereum verifies a batch, its state can be finalized without an optimistic rollup challenge period.
That proof step helps explain why a withdrawal is not simply an instant transfer from one wallet to another. Mantle first records the withdrawal on its own network. The relevant state must then be included in a batch, and that batch must be proved and processed on Ethereum. Proof production and Ethereum processing take time, so the first transaction confirmation is not the same as the funds arriving on Ethereum.
What does “claim” mean, and do I need to submit one?
A claim is a separate Ethereum transaction that completes the withdrawal and releases the funds to the destination wallet. Whether it is needed depends on the bridge’s current flow and the withdrawal’s status. Check the bridge’s history or status screen for the action it offers; do not assume that waiting alone will finish a withdrawal that is marked ready to claim.
The bridge’s FAQ says withdrawals can take up to 12 hours and describes a challenge period, while Mantle’s current network overview says verified batches finalize without one. Those descriptions do not match. The mechanism in the current network overview is proof verification, but the bridge’s own status for your transaction is the practical guide to the next step. Avoid relying on older guides that promise a fixed, week-long wait.
What should I check while the withdrawal is pending?
Use the same wallet that started the withdrawal, and follow its original entry in the bridge history. Starting another withdrawal will not complete the first one. Check whether the Mantle transaction succeeded, whether the batch has been proved, and whether the bridge now offers a claim.
- Keep the Mantle transaction hash so you can confirm that the withdrawal was recorded.
- Have ETH in the destination wallet for Ethereum gas if the bridge asks you to claim.
- Check the destination network and token contract if the claim succeeds but the balance is not visible.
In short, a pending withdrawal is usually waiting for a settlement stage, not another withdrawal request. Wait for the bridge to mark the original transfer ready, then submit the claim if it asks for one.
